Where to fix your gaze.

I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

-phillipians 4:11-13

This is such a beautiful verse and something that I am learning myself. To be content no matter the circumstances is much more easier said then done. I have realized through different painful experiences that no matter how hard the pain or suffering is or can be in life usually somebody has it worse then me. I do believe self-pity is one of the worst emotions to feel in fact, the definition of self pity is; excessive, self-absorbed unhappiness over one's own troubles and that is one way too destroy not only your life, but those around you. I used to be so consumed in my own pain and thoughts I lost sight that others around me are going through things as well. I now know that whatever you fix your eyes on- you will see. If my gaze is on my problems all I will see is them, if my gaze is on faith and hope I will gain faith and hope which is exactly what I yearn for. God doesn't want you too blame him when you are in need, he wants you to come to him and be real he already knows what you are going through like nobody else can, in fact he knows your pain and replaced it for love so that he can comfort you. I also believe that God doesn't let pain occur for nothing and for no greater purpose, there is always a greater purpose!

Self-pity is self- consuming and careless of others, if you find yourself caught up in selfish thinking and gain no peace from doing so (I am guilty) this verse helps, Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. -psalm 34:14. God knows your struggles and he is in them with you, he is broken for the broken and when you are in a dark time in your life and all seems lost. He stands beside you, weeping with you and for you not against you. When you look at hope and not just your issues, life becomes easier. No matter the situation or great need. You can have peace knowing that God is in control and when you let go of the need to have control over everything yourself. Instead turning to peace and trusting that a loving father is present in it all. I am not strong, God is. I am not perfect, God is and I will face trials in this life, but God IS faithful and he will continue to be. I know that life has its ups and downs and the road will get bumpy sometimes, but I know this;

neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God! -Romans 8:38-39
